'Gary Speed: Unspoken' is a celebration of one of the football heroes of our generation. A tribute to a role model, leader and much-loved husband, father and son gone too soon.
In 2018, as he would have approached his 50th birthday, family and friends came together to speak honestly and emotionally about the man they knew and loved in a book published by Reach Sport.
Utilising the power of our serialisation and marketing strengths across Reach plc we were able to carry a sustained marketing campaign and get days of coverage including front pages of the Daily Mirror, Western Mail, Newcastle Chronicle and Liverpool Echo plus articles on Leeds Live and Media Wales websites that saw a massive spike in online traffic.
The project raised awareness of mental health issues in sport and saw Gary's widow, Louise Speed, make a donation to the charity CALM from the book proceeds.
